Language and communication is my first love. My first degree was in linguistics and I had always wanted to use my love of language to help people.
In my first year in Japan, I was devastated by my father’s cancer diagnosis and that set off spiritual soul searching. In my 3rd year in Japan, I began to experience strange synchronicity with a singer/songwriter and believed he must be “the one”. Around the same time, my father’s cancer came back. The enormous psychological pressure and confusion ultimately lead to a frightening breakdown.
Determined to understand how the breakdown and subsequent suicidal thoughts happened, I made a vow to find out. Synchronicity brought me books and teachers that would help me piece it together. I devoured book after book on Jung, therapy, spirituality, energy healing and psychic ability. Reading books lead to training and I trained in The ThetaHealing Technique, Esoteric Healing (based on the teachings of Alice Bailey), Transactional Analysis, psychic development, oracle card reading and hypnotherapy.
More recently, I’ve been combining my love of language with healing and writing. The result is working with “The Language of The Soul”, which is a universal language that connects each individual to the whole of humanity. Re-learning the language of the soul helps us to get in touch with our dreams and our purpose, so we can live out our destiny and heal the wounds holding us back.
I’ve tried out lots of approaches to healing. I joined the “manic manifesting and manipulative marketing” online movement and became more and more miserable and in debt. But once I seriously committed to writing my solo book “Pieces to Peace”, I found myself telling ever deeper truths through my writing while befriending all the different parts of my subconscious mind. Instead of trying to make others’ systems fit, I explored who I truly was. And that approach brought far more peace and confidence.
These contrasting experiences and discoveries mean that when I work with my clients, I help them to use creativity and imagination to communicate with their own soul, listen to its messages and tell ever deeper truths that heal. Originally working with The ThetaHealing Technique, I found myself naturally discovering hypnotherapy techniques and was encouraged to train in hypnotherapy so I could be more confident in dealing with more complex and deep problems. I can’t stand manipulation or telling people what to think, so I always aim to create space for my client’s own unique insights to come through and ask questions to assist that process.
What story writing adds to healing is a way of stepping back and seeing the journey your unique soul has taken. By following a universal story structure, you can see yourself as an individual and dig deeper into your unique dream and gifts. Problems and challenges become less of a nuisance, and more of a way to create an engaging story that helps share your learning. Story gives more meaning and context to everything that’s gone before, and gives you tantalising hints about what might be to come.
I’ve found that the wounds inside us contain wisdom. But because they are wounds, they’re surrounded by protection that’s there for very good reasons. So my approach is about being compassionate and curious about that protection. In my logo, you’ll see a heart mended with gold. Spiritual elder Michael Meade teaches that it is the gold of the soul that alchemises the wounds. By going softly, gradually and honourably, you can create deeper, more meaningful changes – connecting with that gold of the soul that mends your heart and heals your wounds. By enveloping the wounds in story, you use a universal language to share that wisdom with people who need it in a way that reaches their soul too.
