The Hero’s Journey Alternative

I’ve been sharing story wisdom from things that I’ve been learning,

and my latest learning is from this book, The Virgin’s Promise.

So The Hero’s Journey, you probably have heard of it.

If you’re into storytelling at all,

you will have heard of it if you’re into archetypes.

And that’s the more masculine energy, not male, but masculine energy story.

And that one’s more about physical power.

There’s a certain conquering outside energy to that one.

And this is the feminine.

If that’s the Yang, hero’s journey is the Yang,

then the virgin’s promise is the Yin, and it’s an internal journey.

This one is more about psychological independence and developing psychological power.

I was first introduced with a blog post a few months ago now,

and I read the blog post and it didn’t really resonate all that much.

But the idea kept staying with me.

And eventually, I got more into this, read different blogs about it, and thought, Oh, no, there’s something really interesting in this.

And then decided, it’s time to buy the book and explore it because I really love this idea of…

It’s about a feminine way to making a dream come true.

So stories like, “While You Were Sleeping”, “Shakespeare In Love”,  these are Virgin’s Promise stories.

And there’s a sense of…

There’s a glimmer of a dream towards the start of the story, but it has to say secret.

And then by the end of the story, the transformation that’s happened is that that secret world is coming out.

And the lead, the protagonist, is becoming a more radiant, authentic version of who they are and allowing that dream, the feeling that they want to feel to come out into their life.

And so, yeah, as you can see, I’m nearly halfway through this one, and it’s just another fascinating angle on it – on telling our stories and seeing just all this wisdom from these stories that lives inside us, and that’s why they resonate.

So, yeah, I’m going to keep sharing more about the Virgin’s Promise as I study and write and see what comes up in my life as well.
